Step 1:
For this first step in our guide on how to draw a water lily, we’ll start with the leaves surrounding the flower. For now, we’ll draw two large leaves on either side of the flower. As shown in the reference image, they will be drawn with rounded lines with spikes at the ends. These sheets will also be relatively detailed. To do this, we will add many curved and wavy lines inside the leaves. This will help give them more texture and dimension. Then you will go to step 2!
Step 2:
You have the sheets for your calla lily drawing, and now you can add the first real calla lily to the set. To start this first flower, draw two slightly curved lines parallel to each other for the flower’s stem. So you can finally draw the flower itself. Each flower will have two sections. The first will be the thin, rounded bottom half of the flower, while the top will flow out with the rounded edge. Next, there will be a few more details to add to the inside of the flower, and then it’s time to move on to step 3.
Step 3:
Continuing with this guide on how to draw a calla lily, we will add not only another flower but also another leaf to the picture. For the second flower, you can follow the same steps as in the second step of the guide. This one will be bigger, and some details will be slightly different since it’s not from the same angle. Once you’ve drawn this second flower, we’ll add another leaf. It will also look like the other leaves you’ve drawn, but we’ll see less of it because of its position. We won’t be drawing the tip right now either, but we’ll add it soon!
Step 4:
This step of your calla lily drawing will allow you to finish the leaf you just started drawing before moving on to the final details in the next step. To do this, draw the rest of the sheet as you did before. This means using curved lines for the sides and finishing them with a pointed tip at the top. Then we can carry on to those last facts in the following region!
Step 5:
For this fifth step of our guide on how to draw a calla lily, we are going to finish it by adding another flower to the drawing. This will be the highest of the lot so far. It will also have a slightly wavy, pointed part coming straight from the top, as seen in our reference image. Don’t forget to add the little interior details too! Once you have drawn this flower, you are ready for the last step of the guide. You should also feel free to add more details of your choice. You can draw a background, which could be a great way to incorporate more lilies or even a few more flowers you like. What do you think to add to this fantastic photo?
